Application
1. Resin formaldehyde removal:
Urea formaldehyde resin, phenolic resin, melamine formaldehyde resin and other aldehyde resins are essential raw
materials in the production process of aldehydes. A certain amount of free formaldehyde is left in the finished product.
Adding a certain amount of 2-imidazolidone (ethylene urea) at an appropriate temperature can not only remove the
free formaldehyde but also increase the strength of the product.
2. Adhesive formaldehyde removal:
Various types of artificial boards, such as plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, and composite artificial boards, generally
use urea formaldehyde resin, phenolic resin, or melamine resin as adhesives, with an annual production of 80 million
cubic meters in China alone. These adhesives are formed by the condensation of urea, phenol, and melamine with
formaldehyde, and have the problem of slowly releasing gaseous formaldehyde into the environment. 2-Imidazolidone
(ethylene urea) can be added to these adhesives to undergo a Mancini reaction with free formaldehyde, reducing the
content of free formaldehyde without affecting the bonding effect.
3. Pharmaceutical industry:
2-imidazolidinone can be used as the basic raw material of many new antibiotic intermediates, such as mezlocillin sodium and aloxicillin sodium, as well as the ntermediate of anti schistosomiasis drugs, and as the basic raw material of the third-generation penicillin.
Synthesis process of mezlocillin sodium:
2-imidazolidinone → 1-methanesulfonyl-2-imidazolidinone → 1-chloroformyl-3-methanesulfonyl-2-imidazolidinone → mezlocillin acid → mezlocillin sodium (the reactants unrelated to 2-imidazolidinone have been omitted)
The synthetic process of aloxicillin sodium:
2-imidazolidinone → 1-methanesulfonyl-2-imidazolidinone → aloxicillin acid → aloxicillin sodium
4. Textile Fabric Additives Industry:
After the resin non ironing treatment of woven fabrics, there is still residual unreacted free formaldehyde in the fabric, which undergoes a Mancini reaction with ethylene urea to form a stable Mann's base (weak base) to remove formaldehyde.
Using ethylene urea as the main ingredient, adding dispersants, penetrating agents, stabilizers, etc., to make formaldehyde
capture agents for fabric washing. During post-processing, approximately 20G/L formaldehyde capture agent is used to
dissolve in water and clean the fabric.
5. Daily chemical products:
It is the main component of household formaldehyde remover and can be used as a high-performance formaldehyde remover,
a strong activity enzyme for household air formaldehyde, a long-term formaldehyde melting agent, a glue formaldehyde
remover, a photocatalyst, a floor odor removal care wax, a furniture odor removal agent, a car odor removal agent, and so on.
6. Inkjet printing ink:
Vinylurea is an important additive in inkjet printing ink, playing multiple roles. This includes dispersing pigments, lubricating
pipelines, preventing ink nozzles from drying in the air, preventing nozzle blockage, and improving ink storage stability.
It can also improve color contrast and achieve high-quality printing effects.
7. Fine chemical industry:
Used for synthesizing N-chloroformyl-2-imidazolidone, 1-chloroformyl-3-acetyl-2-imidazolidone,
1-chloroformyl-3-methylsulfonyl-2-imidazolidone, N-hydroxyethyl-2-imidazolidone, 1-methylsulfonyl-2-imidazolidone,
1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidone, 1-acetyl-2-imidazolidone, etc.
